I took my Larrivee back to Jeff at Guitar Center and he adjusted the neck. Adjustments on a Larrivee are difficult unless you have the right tool and know where to do the turns. You can't even see the rod end and have to rely on touch to get it snug. But Jeff is a pro and did the work. Now my action is much better. He said someone must have set it up for bluegrass picking, wanting high action. There may even be shims below the bridge. I'll check that out as well but it plays much better than before.
The $100 computer recording system is up and running quite well. Using a boundary mike up close for guitar, and a second vocal mike. I recorded my dog Sniff barking, looped it, then layered an instrumental called 'Laughing Dog Blues' over it. The result was high hilarity!

BYW, I saw one of the little Tascam 4 track cassette recorders at a pawn shop for $179. Are these worth the money? Howabout a new Fostex 8 track digital with CompactFlash for $299. For only $50 more is a Boss portable digital at Guitar Center. Also are there conversion devices that go Flash cards to USB? I'm such a novice at all this!

Update on the $100 computer: I reinstalled the new soundcard and uninstalled Sonar. I then loaded my old 1999 (cheap) Magix Music software that I've been using for years...and everything works just fine! And I saved the 9 bucks!
