Lars,
You are a pretty smart guy, good post. "Rubato", now that's a great excuse. "Mr. Tempo Tantrum" now becomes "Mr. Rubato".

Thanks for inviting me, guys. Tempo is a devil I have to fight myself. I have a tendency to speed up. I don't perform that often but when I record I really need a beat from my MIDI to keep my honest. Having an audience clap in time during a performance usually drives me crazy, but it's a sure sign that you've got them hooked.
Have any of you done any hard drive recording?

It also clarified this concept by mathematically showing that it's even easier for a drummer to keep time than a clapping audience....
Lars, I have worked with drummers who have played in direct conflict with that concept. They think "time" is just a magazine. I always tell them, "come back and play with us when you get "time". I am a tempo tantrum survivor!

Lars,
Were those kids clapping on 2 and 4? Sure hope so. I have great trouble with the 1 and 3 clappers (it's such a "white" thing).
